Community Schools transform our schools into student- and family-centered hubs that deliver a ‘whole child educational experience.’

Meet Ms. Chantel Rothenburger

After earning my Bachelor’s Degree in Human Development from California State University, Long Beach, I geared my professional experience to explore every avenue within the human service field. Early in my career, I worked at Long Beach Unified School District, where I provided recreational services. Additionally, I explored opportunities through the nonprofit sector-notably establishing a youth development program at a temporary crisis shelter for teens. For professional growth, I pursued my license towards becoming a Certified Child Life Specialist where I worked with hospitalized and hospice families providing assessments, interventions, and facilitating groups all aimed at socio-emotional support and education. I have a passion for supporting families and utilizing strength-based approaches whenever possible.

I love spending time with my family and friends whenever I can. I focus on establishing memories that I can treasure for a lifetime. Fun Fact: I am a Southern California native and have gone to the same elementary, middle and high schools as my grandmother and mother. My hope is to continue to build family engagement, and find areas to expand enriched learning opportunities for the students at Mission Elementary. Please feel free to contact me for any needs, I am happy to always be available.

Supporting Students Beyond the Classroom

Mike Levin and USDA Deputy Secretary Xochitl Torres Small recently visited Mission Elementary School to highlight the launch of the new Summer EBT program—an initiative aimed at ensuring low-income students have access to nutritious food when school is out. Oceanside Unified is proud to be part of the conversation around supporting the whole child, year-round.
